Why #Twitter Should Be Your Newest Business Tool



Google and Twitter are teaming up to allow the search engine to surface tweets directly in search results; the two companies announced their partnership recently. To start, the update will appear in mobile searches — both on browsers and in Google's iOS and Android apps. Our major concern here is that Companies that have active twitter accounts will most likely have their Search Engine Results Page (SERP) rankings improve.

An update on Google's regular web search will follow fully allow these changes to appear in its search results. This implies that business organizations that are very active on twitter are likely to have their SEO strategies almost improve by more than 30%.  As a way of companies tapping into this great new feature they need to step up their social media appearances especially on twitter. There is also a likely chance that companies whose product blog posts are shared will generate high traffic on their websites as a result of this new development. 

This means you no longer need to go directly to Twitter to look up specific Twitter accounts, hashtags or tweets concerning given topics. If you want to search for a particular handle, for example, you can simply search "Mwebya Fred Twitter" to view the handle and account's most recent tweets. Searching for specific hashtags or other topics that may be trending will also turn up Twitter results, Google says.
"It’s a great way to get real-time info when something is happening," says Ardan Arac, Google's Senior Product Manager, on its blog. "It’s another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments."

For Twitter, the update stands to help the social network reach a wider audience — an area that remains problematic for the company — as Google is still the overwhelmingly dominant search engine. Putting tweets in more places outside of Twitter's main website and app has been a key part of its strategy to attract more users.


In the past few months, Twitter has introduced a new instant timeline feature and a redesigned homepage for logged out users. The company also began promoting tweets on outside services such as Flipboard — all of which stand to put tweets in front of people who aren't already active Twitter users.
Those who want to fine-tune their searches more can still use Twitter's advanced search feature, which allows you to set more specific parameters like dates and locations. The company also recently revamped the look of its search results on Twitter.com, making it easier to filter results.
Google is not the first search engine to surface individual tweets in search results. Microsoft's Bing rolled out a similar feature last summer that allow people to search for accounts, hashtags and tweets about specific topics.

The changes will begin appearing in English on Google.com on mobile browsers and the company's mobile apps in the U.S; though Google says it will be "rolling out gradually." Similar updates on desktop and in other countries and languages will be launching too, though the company didn't provide a timeline.
